Why Cuttin it up?

Filed under: Angie Baker's Hair Studio — angiebaker @ 3:27 pm

So the name of my blog has more to it then you think. You see I’m also a hairstlyist. So when Kimmie suggested that name I loved it, because it ties in both my passions.  Scrapbooking and Hairstyling.

This picture was taken a week or so ago when my client Maddie decided to get a bit of a “trim”, no really she wanted quite a bit off and had mentioned she once wanted to donate it for Locks of Love. They make wigs for people with cancer. An excellent organization. Your hair has to be “virgin” hair which means it hasn’t  been chemically processed. No perms, no hair dyes etc. AND it needs to be atleast 8inches in length. She fit all the criteria so away I went with my scissors. I almost invited my 4 year old daughter to watch me cut of this young lady’s ponytail.  But then thought bad idea, what if she were to be in school one day and decided to trim a fellow classmates hair. Comes home with a knapsack of ponytails and a letter of suspension.  EEEK!!!!    Don’t get me wrong she’s a pretty good kid, but if she thought it was for  a good cause why wouldn’t it be ok.  Anyway, I showed her after the fact and explained to her again that mommy is a hairstylist and only mommy cuts hair. I’ve heard alot of stories from parents about the time their kids cut their hair and I dread the day. Hopefully I’ve lectured, um… I mean educated my daughter enough times that it will never happen.  Fingers crossed…

Have a great day, and I hope Maddie is still liking her new do. I’m so proud of her, I hope she knows what a great thing she has done. Great job kiddo 😉

BD Party class

Filed under: Classes — angiebaker @ 3:49 pm

Looks like a great day out there. In a couple of hours I’m off to a Birthday party to do a card class for a group of twelve year old girls. I think they’re gonna like what I have for them to make.

A teachers card, a Mother’s day frame,  Birthday and  Easter card. Which I didn’t take a pic of. I’m going to take along my cuttlebug and we’re going to be doing some embossing and cutting.  So I think we’ll have alot of fun. I still have a few things I need to get ready so I should be off.

Have a great weekend.

This week has flown by, Mon and Tues I was in Toronto. Home for a few days doing clients and the regular everyday stuff. Tomorrow I’m doing a little card class for a 12 year old’s Birthday Party. *wave* “Happy Birthday” Then I finish the week off again in Toronto to go see Dirty Dancing with a friend. I’m really looking forward to seeing it, I’ve heard so many good reviews.  Not too shabby for a week’s  “work”.  😉

This is one of many stamps that I’ve gotten from SGD, aren’t they cute. I love the sentiment that goes with it. So much fun to colour and glitter. Anyway hope you have a great weekend, I know I will. Chow

Copic Certification

Filed under: Classes — angiebaker @ 12:23 pm

Day two of our Toronto trip went really well. We grabbed our Timmies and we were off to class. Not far of a commute cause it was in our hotel. So that means no getting lost. Lamo 😉

The class was awesome, I learned a lot of cool techniques and tricks.  If you google “I like Markers” there’s a lot of tips on colouring  and how to get different effects. Which is great, but to be in class with Marianne was more hands on because you could watch how she does it. She would come around the room and give helpful hints. Just the  position of your hand can  make a big difference, for me it did.  Anyway we had lunch with Marianne and she drew this turtle and coloured him in while we waited for our lunch. Amazing, she’s so talented. I learned alot just from watching her colour.  This is a pic of Janet, Marianne and Rebecca. *wave* It was nice to meet so many people that love scrapbooking and card making as much as me. I had a great time and I love my Copics even more now 🙂 I didn’t think that was possible. So now my goal is to save and get more of them.

Have a great day, and be sure to check out Sheila’s amazing 12 hour sale. Every Thursday she does these sales but this week it’s even better!! It’s a 3 day sale and there is some incredible deals, Check it out at

Now that we are Copic certified, there are classes offered on Copic Markers,  at SGD where we will be sharing everything we’ve learned with you. So be sure to check that out as well under crops and classes.

Bye 🙂

Copic Getaway…

Filed under: Uncategorized — angiebaker @ 2:59 pm

Werrrrrrrrre Baaack. Where do I begin, Kim picked me up and we headed to the Bella Boutique in Markham. We were so giddy to be walking through those doors and seeing all of those cute little pink baggies covering two walls.  That we totally forgot to take any pics 😦

There were soooo many goodies that I had to make three trips to the cash register. Shame on me…but Kim and I got an awsesome deal on ribbon. TEN beautiful rolls of stretchy, frilly ribbon.  We’re splitting it cause there  is 27 yards on each roll. Isn’t that crazy, and it was such a good price. How could we not get almost every shade they had to offer. Hee Hee  Do you see Kim buried in it, which was a cute pic but were still untangling some of it. Oopsy

So when we were finished at Bella land, 10 minutes past closing.  Our plan was to head to Brampton to our Hotel….welllllllll Kim and I are both terribly directionally CHALLENGED!  Guess where we ended up instead…Pickering. IIIIIIII   KNNNOOWWWWW!   Once we got our bearings straight, we laughed at the situation and shared or past stories of getting lost. You’d think two girls like us that ADMIT were bad with directions would say have maybe a GPS with them? Ya, we did. It stopped working on us. But anyway, eventually we got there. It was much later then we both hoped so there wasn’t a whole lot of time for colouring and such. But we had fun chatting and doing a bit of stamping.

Stayed stuned for more about the Copic Cert. class and more photos…that’s  if we don’t get ourselves lost walking down the hallway 🙂 ha ha

Toronto today!!!

Filed under: Cards — angiebaker @ 12:46 pm

Good morning,  today my friend and stampin bud Kim are off to Toronto to shop, stamp, eat, stamp, colour, stamp, eat…you get the idea. AND tomorrow is the Copic Certification class!! Yeah, it’s finally here. Me and my 32 markers, which is a little sad compared to others that are going that have 108, or 132 >whatever 😦   oh well I’ll have just as much fun just not as wide of colour selection. My colouful personality will….oh whom I kiddin…I wish I had them all,  wahhhhhhh 😦    *sniff sniff*

Ok I’m done pouting, I’m just glad I get to go.  So here’s a card using one of new High Hopes stamps that I got from Phebe at the Town Scrapper in Petrolia. Isn’t he adorable, I love him!   And he was so much fun to colour with my copics (of course).   I used a few dew drops on top of the balls to make them pop. Love them as well, I ‘ve been using them wherever I can. Thanks Kim 😉

So that’s all for today, I still need to pack and then were heading out. Stayed tuned to see how it goes….

Trash to Treasure

Filed under: Scrapbook Layouts, Scrappin' Great Deals — angiebaker @ 12:54 pm

Good morning everyone. I don’t know if any of you remember me saying that I was going to be getting the leftovers from the February Kit from SGD. They have a challenge to use the leftovers, and they call it “Trash to Treasure” just to show how much you can get out of these kits they sell. So Kim has already made oodles of stuff, and now it’s my turn. There’s  still a lot of goodies left. So what I started with was a fall layout of my kids.

Everything used in the pic is from the kit, Everything!!!  Well not the pics of the kiddies…I only used my ink pad to ink the edges of some of the paper. That’s it.  So thanks for stopping by and I’ll see what else I can do with the “scraps” 🙂

It’s midnight

Filed under: Classes, Scrappin' Great Deals — angiebaker @ 4:08 am

I’m  posting this now cause my kids are sleeping and that’s the best time to get anything done. This way I don’t put it off and skip a Sat. post. So “yeaaaah Me’.  I haven’t missed a post in the last couple days. Do you think I can go a week? Nope, cause I’m going to Toronto on Monday, and the Copic certification class is on Tues. However my girlfriend did say she’ll help me with my blog so we’ll see. Maybe you’ll see some nice pretty improvements in the next week or so.

So the pic today is the same design as the purse that I did for a Scor Pal class a few weeks ago. I had a friend coming to the class that has a little boy, so I wanted something more masculine that little boys may appreciate more then a purse. I do think he liked it when his mom showed him, but was disappointed that it was empty 😦   Awhhhh

Next time I’ll have extra chocolates available 😉

Wondering what this is all aboat?  Pajamas, Munchies &  Stamping.  Doesn’t that sound like a fun night, well it was.  Last friday night I invited six of my stamping/scrapping girlfriends over and we sat around just playing with each other stamps and colouring, whatever they liked. We had some mojito’s cause I’ve never made a martini or a margarita (like my card shows) but mojito’s I can do, yummy. We had some other munchies too but I think all the girls were so busy playing they really didn’t eat much cause I had plenty of leftovers,  which wasn’t any help to my waistline. I have no restraint 😦 Oh well, Couldn’t let it go to waist. (ha, ha no pun intended)

I had so much fun.  My husband said “so is this gonna be an annual thing?” I just laughed and said “monthly.” I would love that!  I think my girlfriends would too.  So I’ll plan another date  sometime in the future, don’t know when but I definetly will. Thanks for stopping by.

Have a great weekend

I’ve fallen in love…

Filed under: Make N' Takes, Scrappin' Great Deals — angiebaker @ 12:35 pm

Now that I’ve gotten your attention,  if you don’t already have a scor pal…get one.

First of all you get nice clean lines for scoring everytime. No more ruler and bread knife or fingernails, whatever you were using… STOP!  You spend all that time making a beautiful card, looks  like you may have even boughten it from a store. Oh but wait, look at the fold…dead give away it’s  homemade.

Plus you can get creative with your folding, there’s tons of ideas online and they give you all the measurements where and how to scor. Also, you can make tons of little bags, boxes, baskets, purses….the list goes on.  ( see older post at some of the things I made.)  I created this carrot that we did  last week at SGD for a Make N’ Take. It was a lot of fun, an easy too. You can fill  it with little treats for Easter.

So, one of my many new loves….the Scor Pal.  Tons of things you can do with it, did I mention you can make your own embossed paper?  You can, if you’d like to know how just leave me a comment and I’ll get back to you. I’d love to hear from you. Have a great week, and enjoy this fabulous weather we’re having.
